Course Content

Chronology, terminology and natural conditions of Aegean Bronze Age 2. Troy and Western Anatolia in Bronze Age 3. The Early Cycladic Period, The Early Minoan Period, Early Helladic Period 4. Middle Bronze Age in mainland Greece 5. Minoan civilization on Crete and Thera (art, funeral ceremony, religion and cult) 6. Evidence of trading contacts of Minoan culture with Egypt and Near East

Learning Outcomes

Aim of the course: Overview of the development of material culture, art and history in the early and middle Bronze Age in the Cyclades, Crete, mainland Greece and on the west coast of Asia Minor.

Educational results: The student will acquire basic knowledge of Aegean region, chronologically focused on the Bronze Age. The course will focus on chronology, terminology and historical events documented by archaeological findings.
